Mr. Rooster Tail ~ BlogRush Update ~ Word Verify ~ Blogger
$40.00
6”x 6” acrylic mini painting on gallery wrapped canvas
Mr. Rooster Tail is available on our CBC's web site. He was painted on the same Port Bolivar trip as Pigasus.
Did I mention we've sold all of our lures? But we can paint more for Christmas gifts. Orders are available through the Canvas by Canvas site or to inquire about placing an order email canvasbycanvas@gmail.com.
For some reason the Google spam robots thought my Nancy Standlee Art Blog was spam and began making me put in word verification at each post and it prevented me from saving a draft. If this happens to you and you've noticed you have to start putting in LETTERS before you can post, but not when you make a comment, then click on the little question mark that appears by the letters and a human will look at your blog, apologize and you'll be back in business. This is the letter I received from the Blogger team and the problem is usually corrected within 24 hours. Thanks, Blogger Team.
Hello,
Your blog has been reviewed, verified, and
cleared for regular use so that it will no
longer appear as potential spam. If you
sign out of Blogger and sign back in
again, you should be able to post as
normal. Thanks for your patience, and
we apologize for any inconvenience
this has caused.
Sincerely,
The Blogger Team
I continue to invite friends to BlogRush even though I've never seen one of my posts appear in the widget; however, I've seen other recognizable blogs several times. This truly is a mystery to me. If you're thinking about joining, read here, http://blogrush.com/faq, for some frequently asked questions, before joining. To join and give more traffic to the mentioned blogs, click on the BlogRush.com tab at the bottom of the widget on the Nancy Standlee Art Blog, CanvasbyCanvas Art Blog, or Artist Food Network. Wait, hold the presses! I just viewed on my site on the BlogRush widget, a blog entry "Card Sharks" from my good friend and fellow CBC painter, Mitchell-Taylor and her blog, Do You Blog Before Breakfast. Congrats, BT, you've conquered the BlogRush widget.

Gracie the Cat ~ Canvas by Canvas Mini ~ Acrylic Cat Painting
6" x 6" Acrylic on canvas
I painted Monday, 9/17/07, with some other Canvas by Canvas collaborative painters at the Upstairs Gallery. This is my contribution to the cat mini series and can be purchased through the Canvas by Canvas web site. I think this will prove to be a popular series and we found ourselves talking to these canvas cats today as we painted them. We are preparing the minis for a special show at the Front Street Festival in Arlington.
More information about the Front Street Festival can be found HERE.
We will also show the minis in the Holiday Magic Show.

Angel at Rest ~ CBC Mini Paintings ~ by Nancy Standlee
$40.00
6" x 6" acrylic on canvas
Purchase through Canvas by Canvas.com
Angels are referred to as Watchers, Holy Ones, Host of Heaven, Spirits, Messengers, Guardians and our Champions. They are commonly depicted as having halos and wings and in Christian iconography they are shown as a winged human form and are powerful and are used to execute God's will. This angel is an imaginary angel at rest and as a former librarian, I gave her a book to read but even though she is supposed to be on a "rest break" she still looks down guarding her charges. I used some Pearlescent paint on the wings. Wikipedia has a long article on angels.
Canvas by Canvas has been painting some mini paintings for their upcoming shows and we have done, fish lures and flys, high heels, cupcakes, and now angels. I am one of the 11 members of CBC.

SOLD ~ Pigasus ~ Port Bolivar Vacation ~ by Nancy Standlee
$40.00
6" x 6"
This little piggy was sold this week but more pigs will be forthcoming through the Canvas by Canvas web site.
He was painted by CBC member Nancy Standlee at the southern part of Texas on the gulf, Port Bolivar, one of the first ports established in Texas. Some of the Canvas by Canvas art group, packed up their bathing suits and painting supplies and headed to this rented vacation home on the gulf side overlooking the beach at Grand Pelican - Sandy Shores. Even before our week's stay was over we were planning a second trip. I had never visited this area and since we went after Labor Day, on September 6 - 11, 2007, we had the beach to ourselves much of the time. We did take lots of photos that we will paint later. Morning coffee on the deck overlooking the ocean with thoughts of a day of painting is indeed a vacation. Throw in a new restaurant search for the evening and maybe a trip to the dollar store for beach chairs makes it complete.

Green Highlander (Hairwing) Fishing Fly ~ by Nancy Standlee
6" x 6"
This acrylic canvas can be purchased at Canvas by Canvas. The Green Highlander is one of the classic fly patterns that is still going strong in all parts of the "salar-world" (Atlantic salmon). Canvas by Canvas may need to have a fishing road trip now that SOME of us are learning there is a difference in flies and lures. Next week some of the group are taking a road trip to Galveston so we may come back with photos to paint of fishermen to go along with the minis. Definitely stay tuned. More infomation on fly fishing can be found at Wikipedia.

WATER VIBE by Mitchell-Taylor
Heddon Musky Night ~ Radiant Charmer Lure ~ by Nancy Standlee
$40.00
6" x 6"
For purchases go to Canvas by Canvas.
This is an antique fishing lure and I've discovered these can sell for thousands of dollars. When we began this project, I was fishing fly and lure information deficient. I had no idea what paraphernalia a fishing enthusiast might use since my last fishing experience involved a cork and a cane pole or maybe a small red and white plastic bobble cork. Now I think I can tell the difference between a fly and a lure but that is about all with the exception these are fun to paint. I hope they will be fun to purchase.
More information on fishing lures can be found at Wikepedia.

FLYING RED ANT by Pat Salazar
CASPER THE PUNKINHEAD SPOOK by Pat Salazar
I have had several painting assignments for Canvas by Canvas to complete before we leave on a trip as we have several important shows coming up in the near future. One of the exciting things that we will be participating in is Holiday Magic. Every year since 1982, more than 10,000 North Texans flock to Holiday Magic, a holiday gift market with the unique gifts from more than 100 exclusive vendors and attend the highly anticipated Ladies Style Show and Luncheon. This year Holiday Magic also includes a Tween Style Show and Children’s Party. It is sponsored by the Junior League of Arlington. Check out their web site at http://jlarlington.org/holidayMagic.asp If you happen to be in the area, be sure to join us for the fun and great shopping! We will be showing many of our paintings for sale there, among which will be our new whimsical minis which consist of lures and flies for the ladies and gentlemen in your family who enjoy the wonderful sport of fishing. To be perfectly honest, I was NOT looking forward to painting these funny little creatures, but once I got into it, I became very excited and they actually started to take on a personality all their own! I have named this one "Casper" as the lure is called a Punkinhead Spook. I think that Casper has a personality all his own, in fact I find him to be very "alluring" ;-) Casper makes great bait for shad if that is your fish of choice. These little jewels are each 6x6 on gallery wrapped canvas and are the perfect original gift for that outdoor person in your life. Check out our web site at http://www.canvasbycanvas.com/ for more details. I had such fun painting him and I hope that you enjoy seeing our work and hopefully buying one or two. Can't wait to paint more of them.

But why not purchase a pair or two of designer shoes from Canvas by Canvas to display in the powder room or bedroom of your home? Your feet will love you and you'll get a real "kick" out of seeing these elegant orange and gold brocade Dolce and Gabana shoes every day. These shoes are painted on gallery wrapped canvas and can be hung individually, or can be arranged in one of our custom made frames.

BAKED WITH LOVE AND A CHERRY ON TOP by Pat Salazar
All of our little gems in our mini series are 0n 6x6 gallery wrapped canvases and can be framed alone or as a group. They are all priced at $40 each. I think they would look wonderful in either a kitchen or a child's room. We are all, after all, children at heart, and who doesn't like cupcakes! Since they're so small and not nearly as filling as a piece of cake, I'm sure that most of the calories have been removed. In fact, there are NO calories in our paintings. Bon Appetite!

Canvas by Canvas LLC - Our First Birthday
A Birthday Celebration Cupcake ~ A TASTE OF SUNSHINE ~ by Barbara Hackney
People who see our work for the first time usually ask "How do you all paint so much alike that it’s hard to tell one artist’s work from another’s?" The answer is... we don’t know! I suppose the fact that we’ve been painting together for years has to have an effect on our personal styles. But I think it’s more than that. This past year being a member of Canvas by Canvas (the corporation) is like suddenly having 10 new best friends. We are eager to share with one another every single thing in our lives, and that includes tips, techniques, photos, ideas, and advice. It is a delight to take a new workshop and come back home to "teach" the other 10 members what we learned!
It does take a lot of constant communication, however, to keep up with each other, as some are far more energetic--or shall I say--gung-ho than others. But here we are... middle-aged and more, having the time of our lives. College kids in a dormitory couldn’t have more fun than we do when we go off on painting retreats together. More often than that, though, are the bi and tri-weekly "events" we attend together, whether it’s a painting day at the local gallery where we can all "fit" in the studio with our individual tonnage of art supplies, or a new movie after lunch, or scouting around on photo shoots to get ideas for our paintings.
During the past 12 months, CBC artists have produced some 35 large paintings and the group has been highlighted in several publications including a full-page ad for Dick Blick in Artist’s Magazine. All four paintings entered in the Dallas PCPC Arts Festival juried show were accepted for display, one winning a First Place ribbon and cash prize. Creative Catalyst Productions awarded Canvas by Canvas a National Merit Award in the summer of 2006 for one of their pieces, and in May of 2007 another painting won the Juror’s Choice Award. A brand new television show called "The Art of Living" is featuring the artists in a TV segment to be broadcast worldwide in high definition during the fall of this year.
No wonder we’re so happy! Is something wrong with this picture? We just don’t see what it could be.
Happy Birthday to us!
CYandell for CBC
